"There is a big difference of losing temporarily and being a loser." Before we dive in to todays article I want to tell you that I don't believe that there are real losers out there, I only believe that there is a lot of people that consistently make the wrong choices and with a little bit of guidance they can actually turn their whole life around. By learning and applying knowledge in my own life I have managed to go from the losing to the winning column (in my mind I never felt like a loser and that was what kept me going as an athlete until I found the right recipe for winning)! Definition of a loser (according to Merriam-Webster): 1: a person or thing that loses especially consistently 2: a person who is incompetent or unable to succeed; also : something doomed to fail or disappoint Almost always I write posts about what you should do but today I want to adress some of the traits that "losers" have on a consistent basis just to show you that these are just traits and not something permanent. No matter if you have them or not you can always change for the better and improve your life, happiness and success. Be honest to yourself (sometimes the truth hurts) and move forward to change the bad habits in your own life. I can't promise you that it will be easy, but I can promise you that it will be worth it! The 5 Habits of a Loser1. Listens to everyones advise The other day I had a lecture about goal settings. After the lecture one of the attendants came to me with a whole list of advise to improve my lecture. Instead of focusing on my message he had been focused on judging my performance during the whole lecture. After he had given me all his advise I asked him if he was a public speaker. The answer was no. So the question is, should I listen to him? Or should I listen to the speakers that are actually 5-10 years ahead of me in their career? Take advice and be humble but be careful to listen to everybody's advise. A lot of people will try to give you advice without even knowing anything about the specific area. The losers listens to everybody and the winners listens to the people that knows what they are talking about. 2. Chases to many things at one time "If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one." People that loses constantly almost always focus on to many things at one time. They do a lot of things halfway with poor results. The winners in life, do one thing a a time (off course there are exceptionally strong-minded people that can handle many things at one time, but they are rare). A winner knows that you don't have to do everything but you need to do one thing with 100% focus. 3. Changes direction to soon Do you change direction as soon as something go wrong? Many times in life the people that won't get the results they want change direction to soon and start questioning what they do way to early. It takes time to get results and you need to be patient and keep moving forward, doing the same thing over and over again before you will se the results showing up in your life. 4. Makes the same mistake over and over I meet a lot of people that complain over their lives while drinking the same beer, eating the same burger and thinking the same thoughts. They never learn from their mistakes and go forward. If we look at the winners, they make a mistake once or twice and learn and never do it again. Some exceptional winners even see others peoples mistakes and learn from them so that they don't even have to make them theirselves. 5. Has a negative inner voice Losing people almost always have a poor mental strength, Even if they are not bad at what they do, they tell themselves that they are. In contrary the winners in life have a positive inner dialogue with themselves. As the greatest boxer of all time Muhammad Ali said (may he rest in peace): "I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was." Now the question is? What is your next step? Don't just read this article and forget about it, write down three things you can do to improve your life (don't wait, do it now). If you want a little more help with your dreams, you should take my 100 % FREE 7-Day Goal Book Challenge. Check it out here “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” Most of us know the difference between eating healthy and eating unhealthy. We know that a salad would probably do us better than a hamburger. We know that drinking sodas are worse than water because they contain a lot of sugar. We know that fruits are better than candy. Even if we choose the unhealthy, we at least know that it is the wrong decision. When it comes to our brain and feeding it with the right knowledge and thoughts unfortunately I meet so many people that do it in the wrong way. Let me explain. All of us have an inner conversation with ourselves (if you go to Venice Beach you might even catch a fellow or two that actually have their inner conversation out loud). The inner conversation contains worries, tasks, secrets, dreams, problems, solutions etc. Research shows that 90-95 % of our thoughts and inner conversation are exactly the same as they were yesterday. So before we move any further answer this question: Are most of your thoughts positive or negative? If most of your thoughts are positive, great! Keep it up, you are probably a happy and fulfilled person that dare to go after what you want. If most of your thoughts are negative you are probably living a life that is thousands of miles from your full potential. Don't worry, you can change your thoughts and you can change your life. Let me give you a few tools that I have used in the past to evolve as an athlete (World Medalist), author and entrepreneur. ExerciseGet a pen and paper and do the following exercise. Do it now! Keep working on this for at least ten days. It will help you to achieve your goals in the future and create a healthier and more balanced life.
In this way, you slowly but surely change your negative thoughts into something good and positive that brings you ahead in life. Although it’s important to have patience. It won’t work immediately, but by doing your homework, you will eventually have trained your mind to think the thoughts that enhances your quality of life and brings you closer to your goals. Another exercise for you who ponders a lot is to once again get a pen and paper. Write down your thoughts, no matter how ugly and weird they are. Write down everything you think and feel for about 20 minutes. Both positive and negative. Don’t judge the thoughts, just write them down. When you're done, go through what you have written. The thoughts you don't like, you cross over. Before you finish this exercise, read the thoughts that are left (those that are not crossed out) three times. For those of you who are new to working with yourself these exercises may feel strange at first, but do them with an open mind and give it a real shot. You will see the benefit it has for your mind. If you want to learn more about this and make your own blueprint for a fulfilled and successful life closer to your dreams. Five Ways To Find Your Passion 1. Revisit your childhood What did you love to do when you were a child? Many of us have forgotten what used to bring us the greatest joy. Make a list of things you loved to do when you were a kid. 2. Make a "creativity board" On this board, you collect all the things you love to do. Pictures, articles, poems and other things that inspire you. When your board fills up, you will begin to see what the things are that you like and are most passionate about. 3. Make a list of people who are where you want to be You do not need to reinvent the wheel. Study the people who are successful in the field you want to succeed in. 4. Start doing what you love Once you have found your passion, immediately start to do it. Dont' wait for tomorrow, next week or January to come. Start today and figure out the rest on the way. 5. Check it out here "Personal leadership is the ability and desire to focus your thoughts and create a meaning and a goal for your life." I have been privileged to meet and socialize with many successful people in various fields. I have met world champions, I have met super moms and I have met with successful entrepreneurs. What have these people with success in different areas in common? Well, they all have a strong personal leadership, they know how to do and think to lead themselves in the right direction and get results. But what is really personal leadership? Personal leadership is the ability and desire to focus your thoughts and create a meaning and a goal for your life. It includes courage, choices and commitment to go in the direction you want by making the actions required for you to become the person you want. 5 Tips To Develop Your Personal LeadershipTip #1: Discipline To succeed with anything in life, no matter in what field requires discipline. With the help of discipline, you will do the things necessary even though it is tough, difficult and tedious. Tip #2: Courage A large part of the personal leadership is courage. The courage to stand up for what you want, the courage to go against the stream and the courage to dare when it's scary. Tip #3: Willpower Willpower is born through motivation and passion for something. People with strong personal leadership has a strong desire to achieve what they set their mind to. Tip #4: High demands Almost all successful people I have met often have very high demands, especially on themselves. They almost always do their best and expects the same of the people surrounding them. Tip #5: Joy The most successful people I've met are not always the people winning the most. For what is success without happiness? Strong personal leadership is about daring to have fun on the journey and to not forget that success and happiness in the long run should go hand in hand. Good luck with your personal leadership! For those who want to become experts in a field it’s important to know the 10,000-hour rule. Many times we look at successful people with envy and think: "If only I had such a talent, if only I was born there, if only I had been as lucky as her."
The excuses are many for those who are afraid to work for their success. Behind almost every successful person there is a unique story that often involves a lot of hardships and very hard work for several years. Look at some of the best soccer players in the world, such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a real soccer king. Doesn’t it look easy when he’s dribbling past player after player? It seems easy to be Zlatan. Drive a Ferrari, play some ball and eat baguettes in Paris. If we scratch the surface a little (if you get the chance: read his book!) and actually get to know Zlatan, we realize that he’s a man with character, a man who never lets himself be discouraged, although he was always misunderstood and discouraged when he was young. Zlatan and many other successful people are successful precisely because they never gave up, they continued passionately forward no matter what happened. That’s the reason they have succeeded. Many writers, scientists, trainers and coaches have tried to find out what it takes to really be successful in one particular field. Interestingly enough, everyone seem to come to the same conclusion: it takes 10,000 hours of work to become an expert at what you do. This means that if you spend three hours a day on a task it takes ten years to become an expert. Unfortunately, we live in a world today where everything must happen fast, we want everything now and if we cannot get it, we give up. With the knowledge that it takes many years to get good at something, you don’t need to be so hard on yourself if it's not going that well in the beginning. Don’t give up, continue forward and learn from your mistakes. If you keep it up long enough, you will eventually become an expert. Did you know that the competition is not as tough at the top? It’s easier to achieve something great than something small. It’s because most people don’t believe in themselves or are not ready to put in the work that is required. So dare to aim big in life and don’t be surprised if you actually succeed. And time will pass anyway, it cannot be stopped, so why not make something good of it? Do you want to learn more about how you can succeed with your dreams and goals? Then you should read The Goal Book: How to Achieve Your Dreams and Create a Better Life. Hi! There is a way and today I will teach you how to take those small, small steps every day that will eventually add upp to massive success. For a minute or two just think about your goals. What would happen with them if you took a 1000 small steps closer to them? (Many people tell me that they not even need a thousand steps to achieve their goals.) Let me give you two examples: Money: 1000 steps of $10 each would add up to $10,000. Health: Running 3 miles thousand times would add upp to 3000 miles of running. Today´s 3So this is what I do, and you could do it to.
Every morning before I start working on a post-it I write down three small things that will take me closer to my long term goal. Example:
After writing down these tree small things which I call Today's 3 make sure to do one of the things instantly. Don't wait, use your morning momentum (if you are not a morning person, do it anyway). Ok, now you might be thinking that this won't work for you because you have a hundred things on your to-do list. Remember this is not a to-do list. This is a list with only one focus to get you closer to your dreams. Keep doing this every day for a year and you will see tremendous results in your life. If you want accountability post your Today's 3 on social media with the hashtagg: #ilovesuccess A great start for you would also be to take my 100 % FREE 7-Day Goal Book Challenge. Check it out here This weekend I washed my car, got my hair cut, shaved, trimmed my body hair, exercised, had a massage and dressed up. And you know what happened to me? It made me feel so incredibly good about myself. This week we will talk about what you can do to feel good about yourself, because when you love yourself you give other people the opportunity to do the same. It is hard to attract your dream partner, have great friends or land that big deal if you don't feel good about yourself. In todays post we will cover the external parts that can affect our happiness and on thursday I will share my thoughts on how you can work with yourself internally to love yourself. I know you are a busy person so lets cut to the chase. What can you really do to feel good about yourself? First of all let me tell you why I am writing this. My goal for you (and myself) is to become a master of life. That leads to the question: What is a master of life? My definition of a master of life: "A person that feels that he/she is successful in all parts of life and have a balance between the areas of Health, Money, Personal Goals, Relationships and the Social aspects of life." I don't care how other people define success the most important thing is that you feel successful and that is something that only you can decide. For some people success is earning a million dollars, for others its ten million and for others it is to be healthy, It is up to you but be honest to yourself and choose yourself instead of being affected by how society value success. External Things To Do To Feel Good About YourselfFunny enough a lot of these things are traits that my father and grandfather used to teach me (both very successful in their fields).
How many of these traits do you practice on a daily basis? Give it a try, it works for me and I am almost certain that it will work for you! On thursday we will cover how you can work with your mental attitude to feel good about yourself. I you want more tips like these you should join my exclusive success group. It is 100% FREE and I will even give you two free chapters of my life changing book The Goal Book. Just type in you e-mail below and you are good to go. "The true character of a person is showed when failure is present. It is easy to be a winner that wins but its harder when you believe in what you do and know you can do it but still fail time after time" The other day when I was at a café I overheard two girls discussing their future, or at least their very near future. Girl 1: "I am so looking forward to going out tonight in Hollywood." Girl 2: "Yeah, I know. I am so excited." Girl 1: "I hope we meet some celebrities tonight." Girl 2: "Yeah that would be great, maybe we will get discovered." Discovered for what? Unfortunately a lot of people (especially in LA) believe that they somehow by dancing and drinking next to a celebrity will get discovered. The dream conversation will go something like this: Celebrity (approaching dancing girl): "You look like a great actor. Would you like to star in my next movie?" Dancing girl: "Yaay, of course." It could happen, but let's get real here, chances are one in a million. Instead of believing in luck, it is time to put in the hours to actually have something to offer. 3 Important Traits of Successful PeopleI study success for a living and what I have seen in all successful people is these three (among many more) traits:
1. They are constantly learning If you watch and listen to the greatest athletes of all times you will start to realize that despite how many World Titles or Olympic Gold Medals they have won they still want to learn and improve. Why is that do you think? Because they want to win over others but most importantly they want to know how good they can really become. 2. They party less and work more If you still believe you can get discovered in the club or on the street please forget about that for a while. Invest your time and money wiser than hitting up the clubs everyday. Off course you have to enjoy life but if you really want to be good at something you have to put in the hours. Research show that to become an expert in any given skill you have to spend about 10000 hours doing it. That's 3 hours a day for 10 years, so lets go! 3. They let failure fuel them The true character of a person is showed when failure is present. It is easy to be a winner that wins but its harder when you believe in what you do and know you can do it but still fail time after time. The most successful people have failed many times, just like you and me, the big (and only) difference is that they let the failure fuel them to go forward, learn and be better next time. Thank you for your time, I hope you liked the post. I you want more tips like these you should join my exclusive success group. It is 100% FREE and I will even give you two free chapters of my life changing book The Goal Book. Just type in you e-mail below and you are good to go. |
