"The true character of a person is showed when failure is present. It is easy to be a winner that wins but its harder when you believe in what you do and know you can do it but still fail time after time" The other day when I was at a café I overheard two girls discussing their future, or at least their very near future. Girl 1: "I am so looking forward to going out tonight in Hollywood." Girl 2: "Yeah, I know. I am so excited." Girl 1: "I hope we meet some celebrities tonight." Girl 2: "Yeah that would be great, maybe we will get discovered." Discovered for what? Unfortunately a lot of people (especially in LA) believe that they somehow by dancing and drinking next to a celebrity will get discovered. The dream conversation will go something like this: Celebrity (approaching dancing girl): "You look like a great actor. Would you like to star in my next movie?" Dancing girl: "Yaay, of course." It could happen, but let's get real here, chances are one in a million. Instead of believing in luck, it is time to put in the hours to actually have something to offer. 3 Important Traits of Successful PeopleI study success for a living and what I have seen in all successful people is these three (among many more) traits:
1. They are constantly learning If you watch and listen to the greatest athletes of all times you will start to realize that despite how many World Titles or Olympic Gold Medals they have won they still want to learn and improve. Why is that do you think? Because they want to win over others but most importantly they want to know how good they can really become. 2. They party less and work more If you still believe you can get discovered in the club or on the street please forget about that for a while. Invest your time and money wiser than hitting up the clubs everyday. Off course you have to enjoy life but if you really want to be good at something you have to put in the hours. Research show that to become an expert in any given skill you have to spend about 10000 hours doing it. That's 3 hours a day for 10 years, so lets go! 3. They let failure fuel them The true character of a person is showed when failure is present. It is easy to be a winner that wins but its harder when you believe in what you do and know you can do it but still fail time after time. The most successful people have failed many times, just like you and me, the big (and only) difference is that they let the failure fuel them to go forward, learn and be better next time. “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” IT IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE ALWAYS HAVE DONE ITDo you remember the time before Google? You know when you asked mom or dad why things where a certain way. For example: "Why is it important to get married?" or "Why do you have to work?" The answer was often: "Because that is the way it's has always been done." There is so many things we do just because "it's always been done like that". But the rules has changed and the world to. We don't longer have to do everything like it's always been done, we can actually do what's right for us. Many times that is actually a lot better. Where you like many raised with the view that life should be like this:
Have you really thought about how you spend your time and money? How much are you really making per day and it is worth it? EXAMPLE:
Sarah has a well paid job as an administrative manager in a small company. It is not her dream job (her passion is food & travel) but it pays her bills and "sponsors" her life style. Let's take a closer look at her finances. Salary after taxes: $3,600 Monthly expenses: Rent: $1,500 Food: $400 Transportation: $300 Clothes & entertainment: $200 Insurance: $300 Credit payments: $300 Miscellaneous: $100 Total: $3,100 Money left after expenses: $500 How much is really Sarahs salary per hour after she has paid all her expenses? Let's assume that Sarah works 160 hours per month (40 h/week). $500 (money left after expenses) / 160 (monthly hours worked) ≈ $3/hour. $3 x 8 (one workday) = $24 Is it really worth sacrificing your best years doing something you don't like just to make a few bucks a day? It is up to you, all of us have different goals and dreams. Some people can have a job that they not love because they just see it as a job and shut it off when they get home. When I got fired a few years ago I realized that it wasn't worth it to work for somebody else. I got to learn the hard way and had to get fired to get the real motivation to start creating my own business. But deep inside me I had always known that I wanted to go my own way and spend my days doing what I love. Do what you want to do and don't wait: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” Just because people have done things a certain way for a long time it doesn't automatically mean that its right. Go your own way and don't get a job - Create one! If you need help in getting there you should read my book The Goal Book: How to Achieve Your Dreams and Create a Better Life. The Goal Book will help you set goals and give you the tools to actively work with them every day. You can also get started by taking my FREE 7-DAY GOAL SETTING CHALLENGE. “The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.”
OK, so let's be honest here. You want the good life, I want the good life, everybody wants the good life. And everyone can have the good life but far from everyone will have the good life.
Why is that? The questions is hard but the answer simple: Effort Most people are just to lazy to really, and I mean really put in the effort it takes to master a skill. And that makes me sad, especially if you are a person that comes from a good upbringing and have all the resources except your own willpower. So you want to be a millionaire or have six pack abs or start your own company? Or maybe you want all of it. It is there for you to take but you have to be willing to put in the effort it takes to actually become that hard working (and smart working) person. That's why I love famous coach John Woodens quote: “The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.” Lets think about it. What are you doing when no one is watching? Are you willing to wake up before the rest of the world, are you willing to work late nights, are you willing to educate yourself to become a master at your skill? If not, don't waste your time reading this post. But if you are ready to become your dreams and work hard and smart for what you want, you have come to the right place. Keep reading today I will challenge you (in a fun and motivating way) to become closer to the best you.
Effort is important, but first comes passion. If there is no passion there is no motivation to put in the effort it takes.
What are you passionate about? What are you willing to do all day for free (or even pay for)? One of my biggest passions since I was 6 years old has been karate, expect for the first few months when I first went to training with my father. I undressed the karate uniform and ran out of class naked. But things changed and my passion grew. My passion grew so strong that I was willing to train hard every day until I became really good (despite my lack of talent). In the beginning I was really bad, but my passion, effort and patience outgrew my competition and I managed to become a national champion 8 times and even win a bronze medal at the 2012 Shotokan World Championship. That was 90% effort and only 10% talent. If I can, you can! It is all about your effort. The Challenge
Today I am going to challenge you.
You want to take your life to the next level but don't know where to start. The 7-day Goal Book Challenge is a 7-day challenge designed to give you a kickstart to your new and better life. A life closer to your dreams and goals. Ready to get started? Read below to get all the details:The Rules
Welcome to my blog, Today I will share how I wrote a life changing book in 40 days. But first let me tell you who I am: My name is Peter Jumrukovski and I have always been the underdog who refused to give up.
If a regular guy like me can succeed, so can you! Ok, that was a little bit about me. By the way I recently packed my bags and left everything in Sweden to come all the way to Marina Del Rey, California. OK, so how did I write a book in 40 days? After I got fired I finally got the courage to go after what I have wanted for so long. I wanted to inspire and guide people to succeed better in sports, business and life. I figured that in order to get speaking gigs I needed to have a book, that would make me sound smart, right?
I also wanted to see if my success tools would work on a new area like writing a book. I set the bar high and figured that when I didn't had any backup plan anymore it was either go hard or go home. The Goal looked like this: Goal: Write a book about Goalsettings in 40 days.
Every day I walked to the beautiful library in Halmstad (Sweden), ordered a Cappuccino with a doubleshot of espresso and began to write. Was it easy every day? No! Did I do it? Yes, I did! By being disciplined and taking small steps (2,5 pages) every day I succeeded to write my book. How I got my book published is whole nother story. The result became The Goal Book, who is currently one of the most sold books in self development in Sweden and also recently published in the US. To be totally honest with you, I am surprised that I succeeded, but I did it by implementing the same strategies I did as an athlete and the same strategy that I write about in The Goal Book. If a regular guy like me can succeed, I am certain that you can too. All you need to do is find the tools that works for you and get started. If you need some help, you should try reading my book The Goal Book. Or if you want why not take my FREE Goal Setting Challenge. After completing it I will even give you the first two chapters of my book for free. Anyways, enough about me. What's up with you? What are you dreaming about? Maybe you also want to write a book or travel the world, or starting your own business. Whatever it is, you can do it! I believe in you. It's time for you to believe in yourself. Until next time... |
